Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center
Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center provides a central location for delivery of services to abused children, using the Multi-Disciplinary Team approach to provide a continuum of care for child victims.
Interview and Case Review by a trained Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
- Forensic interviews in a child friendly setting with trained professionals allowing children to tell in their own words the events of abuse
- Forensic medical examinations by medical professionals who have been trained through the UNC Child Medical Evaluation program
- Connection to shelter and protective services, as required
- Advocacy throughout the legal process
- Mental Health counseling services for child victims and non-offending family members
- Community education and awareness about Child Abuse
All services are intended to decrease the trauma already suffered by child victims, increase the likelihood of successful prosecution, and enhance our community’s capacity to provide protective services. Our intent is to provide hope and assist in the healing processes to enable the child to reconcile the past and embrace the future.
Our services are available to all ages of children, from 0 to 18. No victimized child or non-offending caregiver is ever charged for services received at The Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center.

Monique Burr Child Safety Matters Training for Children PreK-12th
In the first session of Monique Burr Training, we will cover the statistics in child safety and abuse. We will gain understanding of the 4 kinds of abuse children can experience as well as the 5 safety rules that children can implement with all of these types of abuse to keep themselves safe in unsafe situations. We will also go over safe adults and how they are fundamental in the lives of children.
Monique Burr Bullying, Online Safety, and Digital Dangers for PreK-12th
In the second session of the Monique Burr Training, we will cover bullying, in both person to person as well as cyberbullying. We will go over the ways that bullying can be prevented and how we can teach children to choose kindness over bullying. We will also gain a greater understanding for internet safety and digital dangers among young children. We will also discuss excessive screen time and how it negatively effects preschool and school age children in their developmental years.
Monique Burr Mental Health Matters for PreK-12th Grade and TeachersI
n the third session of Monique Burr Training, we will cover mental health for children, topics such as how to make healthy choices for their bodies and their minds. We will discuss the different substances that may not be healthy for them such as alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, etc. How to say no to those things and how to get away and stay away from situations involving those things and most importantly how to get help from a safe and trusted adult of they are ever in a situation involve
Mandated Reporter and Child Abuse by Darkness to Light
Learn to recognize other forms of child abuse and neglect, and how to respond as a mandated reporter. Mandated reporter laws are different in each state, for example, being a mandated reporter in Texas may be different from being a mandated reporter in California. Teaching definitions and indicators of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect, Darkness to Light has mandated reporter training also teach you about the legal obligations as a mandated reporter defined by your state
Darkness to Light – Stewards of Children
You will meet survivors who lived through child sexual abuse, experienced its immediate and long-term effects, and ultimately were able to find healing. You will meet experts who work with children and families, and confront abuse on a daily basis. Many of these survivors and experts are also parents themselves.

The mission of W5 is to ensure all adults in North Carolina understand their legal and moral responsibility to protect children by reporting all forms of child abuse and neglect, because the burden should not be on children to protect themselves.
